Lisbon Addictions

Organised by ICAD, I.P., in conjunction with the European Union Agency on Drugs (EUDA), the scientific journal Addiction/Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA) and the International Society of Addiction Journal Editors (ISAJE), Lisbon Addictions aims to promote scientific debate and stimulate research on addictions in the areas of illicit substances, alcohol, tobacco, screen addiction, gambling and other addictive behaviours and addresses topics as diverse as international policies, interventions and human rights.


Since its first edition in 2015 and subsequent editions in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024, Lisbon Addictions has established itself as the largest international event in the field of addictions, as a showcase of scientific knowledge developed around the world in the different areas of addictive behaviours and addictions. It is a multidisciplinary conference that offers a unique networking opportunity for researchers, professionals and specialists from various countries in policies related to addictive behaviours and addictions and disciplines that address new challenges and developing areas.


The 2024 edition was better attended than previous ones, with a total of 2,157 participants from 95 countries, including researchers, professionals, civil society representatives and policy experts from a wide range of specialised areas. During the three days of the Conference there were around 600 presentations spread over 177 sessions, including plenary sessions, "great debates", oral communications, workshops and e-posters. More than 27 internationally renowned experts and professionals contributed their knowledge, as keynote speakers and/or participating in panels, which addressed the latest scientific developments in the field of illicit substances, alcohol, tobacco, screen addiction, gambling and other addictive behaviours, as well as topics as diverse as international policies and innovative interventions.
