Addictive Behaviours at 18 - Regions 2023
Following the release of national data on addictive behaviours among 18-year-olds who took part in National Defence Day in 2023, ICAD, I.P. presents the results by region.
Compared to the previous study, some trends were confirmed, while others were reversed.
One of the trends that was not confirmed was the regional discrepancy, which had been decreasing in recent years, bringing the regions closer together in terms of addictive behaviours.
Contrary to previous results, in 2023 many indicators seem to show an increase in the discrepancies between the different regions, at least when the difference (in percentage points) between the region with the highest prevalence and the region with the lowest prevalence is taken into account, because in many cases, taking the region with the highest values out of the equation (Alentejo in the case of alcohol and tobacco, Algarve in the case of cannabis, and Azores in the case of drugs other than cannabis), the remaining regions tend to have more or less similar prevalences.
