CRI of the Setúbal Peninsula - ECITI Protocol

24/06/2025

On 5 June, the Integrated Response Centre of the Setúbal Peninsula signed the ECITI Protocol (Interinstitutional Collaboration Team for Responding to Situations Referred for Involuntary Treatment) at Casa da Baía in Setúbal. This document is part of the general principles of mental health policy established by the New Mental Health Law and lasts for three years, which can be renewed for an equal period.

It aims to provide a framework for the multidisciplinary and inter-institutional team, made up of members of ICAD, I.P., the Arrábida Local Health Unit, the Directorate-General for Social Reintegration and Prison Services, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Setúbal Judicial Court and the Setúbal Judicial Court. This protocol applies to the geographical area covered by the Arrábida ULS, which coincides with the area of jurisdiction of the Setúbal District Court, and covers the municipalities of Setúbal, Palmela, Sesimbra, Alcácer do Sal, Grândola, Santiago do Cacém and Sines.

ICAD, I.P., through the Setúbal Peninsula CRI, is responsible for taking an active part in periodic meetings, providing consultancy support to health professionals and teams with regard to signposting, monitoring or referring cases, collaborating in information and training activities for local agents, and considering the recommendations that ECITI may make with a view to improving the respective services, in conjunction with health and justice entities.
