DRUG-PREP
Portugal's participation in the DRUG-PREP project is ensured by ICAD, which is leading work package 5: Capacity Building for Policymakers.
Funded by the European Commission, the main objective of the European project DRUG-PREP (Strengthening Preparedness of Drug Information Systems and Drug Policy Capacities to Respond to Emerging Drug Trends and Challenges) is to contribute in an innovative way to strengthening the robustness of information systems on illicit drugs, as well as to support the formulation of effective policies by identifying gaps and anticipating future scenarios. It is recognised that drug policies increasingly need to become more robust and resilient to face future challenges, using prospective methodologies to facilitate the adoption of more forward-looking policies.
The consortium is made up of seven institutions from six countries (Belgium, Czechia, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands and Portugal), under the coordination of the Trimbos Institute.
DRUG-PREP aims to promote the use of practical tools to help policy-makers, decision-makers, researchers and actors, and national governments, to better prepare for the scenarios of the future.
One of the most relevant dimensions in this project and foresight exercise is a participatory approach to explore the dynamics of future uncertainties and changes in the field of drugs and their impact on national scenarios, contributing to better preparation to anticipate emerging problems.
